Dear Parents of Students in grades K-8,
This letter is to inform you of the pupil progression plan for students in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
All students in grades K-8 will be provided two years of instruction (2019-2020 and 2020-2021) before any retention decisions will be made.
All students in grades K-8 will be placed in their next progressive grade level for the school year 2020-2021.
At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, a 4-week transitional bridge period of instructional modules will take place with each grade and subject. This transitional bridge period will allow for the recuperation of previous grade level work.
Final report cards will be mailed at the end of May. If you have any questions about your final decisions, please reach out to me at brian.anderson@desotopsb.com. We are here to help you make these decisions.

Dear Students/Parents,
This letter is to inform students/parents in grades 8 - 11 enrolled in high school credit bearing courses, of the status of your final grades for the Spring 2020. All courses are considered complete as of March 13, 2020. Your teachers have assigned a grade to each of your courses and those grades are representative of your final course average at this time. This average can be viewed using the Student Command Center or Parent Command Center. We have posted how to access these command centers on our website.
DeSoto Parish has organized the following guidance.
- Students will be withdrawn from any course with an “F” average and the course will be rescheduled in the future.
- Any course with an overall “D” average will be recorded as a “P” (Pass) so as not to cause harm to the overall GPA.
- Any course with a course average of “A” will be recorded as is.
We also have options for students that completed a course with a “B” or “C” average. These options are meant to provide you an opportunity to have the best grades possible under these circumstances. The options are as follows: 1) accept the course grade as is, 2) improve those grades by doing virtual learning work in an abbreviated timeline - virtual classes will occur (May 6 -20). These choices are crucial due to the fact that grade point averages impact eligibility for TOPS, TOPS Tech, and university scholarships. Please complete the following form (see link below) in order to make these requests. (insert link to form) For students with “B” and “C” course average, if this form is not received by April 29th, the course grades will stand as is.

Stanley Panthers,
As you know, the governor has ordered that public schools be closed until April 13, 2020. The SHS campus is currently closed to visitors until further notice. Due to this closure, our office staff will not be available for regular office hours or to answer the telephones.
There are updates and information on both the SHS and DPSB websites. Academic resources, FAQs, and COVID-19 information are available through the links on these sites. Desoto Parish Schools will offer breakfast and lunch for students in cooperation with local churches. SHS is offering curbside pickup breakfasts and lunches from 10:15 to 11:15 in front of the gym.
